Teachers Turn To Web To Reach Community
Aging Homework Hotlines Giving Way To The 'Net
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 6, 1999--
Homework hotlines of the late 80's and early 90's are being enhanced by school information posted on the Internet. Data Sense, Inc., announced today that thousands of teachers have registered on the SchoolNotes.com website since its introduction four months ago. SchoolNotes.com is a free community service that makes it easy for school teachers to post homework on the Internet without programming.
"SchoolNotes.com was created to allow all teachers, especially those with little or no computer experience, to be able to quickly and easily post school information on the Internet for their community to access," according to Ron Bocinsky, President of Data Sense, Inc.
"SchoolNotes.com is as great an improvement to opening the doors of communication to homes from school as any teacher could want," according to Patricia Soto, a Nationally Board Certified teacher from Carver Middle School in Miami, Florida.
Cathy Buffaloe, Librarian at Miller Grove Middle School in Decatur, Georgia, proclaimed: "Thirty-six of the teachers in our school are using SchoolNotes.com to publish on the Web. Many of the teachers use the site to direct students to specific web sites as well as to post class assignments, projects, and course syllabi. Just think how great it would be if all of the teachers used SchoolNotes.com to post their daily homework assignments, too! Then when students are absent or need a reminder, they could check the teachers' sites from home to get their homework assignments instead of calling other students. It's also another good way for teachers and parents to communicate. Parents can check the teachers' sites to see what topics are being covered in their classes."
"As teachers, parents, and students gain access to the Internet from school, work, and home, SchoolNotes.com is proving to be a terrific tool for the education community," said Bocinsky.
